Wells for the village
Drinking water is, along with food and housing, an essential pillar of the quality of life. First of all for a hygiene issue: contaminated water is one of the major vectors of the most deadly diseases on the planet, especially diarrhea. [Source: UN Info].
And did you know? Globally, it is in Africa that half of the people who drink water from unprotected sources are found, since only one in four people in Africa has access to a safe source of drinking water.
Unequal access in Africa also translates into gender inequality. It is mainly women and girls who bear the main burden of collecting water to fetch it, collect it and bring it back to the village, an overwhelming daily task to which they devote more than 30 minutes. at the expense of their education!
ALEDD would therefore like to make its contribution and find simple, local solutions to this major problem.
In consultation with our partner VOMM, already very involved in several environmental infrastructure projects, we designed and financed the creation of new drinking water wells for the village, so that access to this essential resource cannot represent a brake on all educational actions undertaken since 2009 by the association.
The first two boreholes were drilled one at the primary school and the other near the rural college of Diaglé in order to distribute water to children and carry out educational projects related to environmental protection and tree development and plants.
The next wells will be assigned to strategic places in the village, according to the results of the investigations, so that everyone can have access to water in the village.
The partner of this operation - the Italian company
VOMM Impianti e Processi Spa, whose owner, as kind as it is discreet, Corrado - was the driving force behind this great project, which was important to them for financing, designing and seeing it carried out.
The VOMM Company has also been a partner since the beginning of 2016 with the ALEDD Association, following a long tradition of mutual aid in Italy and a deep awareness that people are the real resources of this world.

The next stages of this project :
- Complete the construction of all the wells in the village at strategic locations for the supply of water to the inhabitants,
- Consolidate the area around the wells and manual pumping of water ,
- Find the budgets necessary to guarantee the permanent supply of water to the village of Diaglé and combine it with an irrigation project for the cultivation of plants, trees and vegetables in primary school, the rural college and the whole village .
